We always crave the hot weather, hate it when it rains and get annoyed what the wind can do to our hair. We complain about how cold it is and how many layers we need, until of course it gets warm and we gradually end up complaining about the moths in our room and how we can't sleep in the heat... Then up go the umbrellas and we finally get back to complaining about the return of the rain.
We always dream of what we don't have… always craving a different season.
Sleep could perhaps be one of the most important parts to life, our routines and our health. It is something we need to go on, a way to re-charge the batteries and stop the clock for a bit, or at least so we can hold off the Botox a little longer.
I have always been advised don't burn the candle at both ends; don’t spread yourself too thin and run yourself into your reserve tank... Yet still do it.
Laying in the sun, soaking up the rays and chatting with friends, all sounds very chilled out and relaxing… but that's the thing, It drains us more, makes us even more tired and if we didn't use lotion, we end up being one tired burnt out orange… an Essex girls dream.
Why when we are tired do we feel the need to get away? Relax in the sun... Yet come back from holiday less enthusiastic about the boring day job and craving to book another one? Craving even more change.
That's the thing about dreaming of the perfect weather and perfect settings, escaping your life... When we actually get it, we realise it has just as many faults as the rainy days. The thing is, perfect weather in life is gladly received, but storms happen and it's lasting them that matters. You quickly realise that every season has its down parts, but that’s just life sometimes, you realise that its more about seeing past the clouds and perfect really comes down to the individual.
Remember this, a warm shower is nice and can be a relaxing way to wash... But a cold shower can be a refreshing wake up and maybe just what you need.
There's no shame in chasing the sun, looking for adventure, getting away and re-charging the batteries. As long as you appreciate that the sun can shine, the rain can fall, seasons change and you're not the only one that battles against the wind.
The great thing about different seasons, even if you might get wind swept, wet or loose some sleep, we all go through them together. Some enjoy them more than others, some are pleased to see the back of them, but the thing to remember is, your favourite ones always come back.
So even if it’s raining, open your window, enjoy the heat when it’s here and look forward to your season, even if you have to wait a little while for it to come back around again… my guess is it’ll be worth it.
